The staff of the Haines Sheldon Museum are happy to accommodate researchers and research requests.

General Information

For collections questions, appointments and research requests please call (907) 766-2366 or email the Collections Manager.

Research requests and access to the HSM Archives and Library are available by appointment. Please contact a museum staff member to make an appointment so that we can assist you better. Drop-ins will be assisted dependent upon staff availability.

Requests over the phone, email, or by those otherwise unable to visit the Archive Library may be subject to a research fee, dependent upon the staff time required for research.

Purpose

The materials contained in the Archive and Library at the Sheldon Museum and Cultural Center are maintained and added to with the following goals:

  • To provide informational resources regarding the Chilkat Valley and the Museum’s collection, to the public.
  • To provide the environment, materials and equipment that allow resources to be easily navigated and accessible, thereby encouraging the public to utilize available resources.
  • To minimize damage to resources through standardized storage, handling procedures and usage guidelines.
